This project began during the COVID 19 shut-down which decimated the music industry along with many other industries and took the lives of many many people. With no work I found myself stagnating and questioning my future as a professional musician, composer, producer. As is typical with me I decided to go from zero to full on and started a project to record many songs from the first 20 years of the 20th century. I decided to make the recordings stripped down to their most basic arrangements letting the recordings stand on the merit of the music alone. So all the songs in the Good Ol' Good Ones series (I initially chose to do three volumes - 33 songs but have decided to just keep going) are based exactly on the original published piano music which I researched and found. Some of these songs are well known standards but many are rare and in some cases I was unable to find any previous recordings of certain songs! I also found that many of these standards have been altered both lyrically and musically over the years, so much so I had to re-learn some I have been performing for over 40 years! This era 1900 to 1920 comprises a rich treasure trove of music and needs to be remembered.
