Some folks are always wasting their time, looking for some-one new But if I had my way, I'd really have to say, I'd rather spend time with you some people seem to spend all their time, giving their point of view no matter what they say, I will have my way I'd rather spend time with you people always ask me, what do I really want while I'm confessin' I keep them guessin' what I'm thinking why should I worry spending my time. wondering what to do when it comes to the clinch, it really is a cinch I'd rather spend time with you

Verse What can I say about Suzie, that hasn't been said before I've had some special girls in my life, but none that I could call my wife so I travelled around this great big world, from Idaho to Tim-buck-too and now I know I've found the one, a girl to make my dreams come true Chorus I'd rather be with Suzie 'cause Suzie's the gal I adore I spent a night with Daisy and she nearly drove me crazy and Nellie in the sun was just a bore I once went out with Mabel and she drank me under the table and Dolly never ever said hello some people think I'm choosy but I'd rather be with Suzie 'cause Suzie's the gal that I adore Chorus 2 There's no other gal like Suzie, 'cause Suzie's the gal for me I even tried Sadie, but she was no lady, and Louise wasn't always such a breeze I spent a week with Molly but it ended up a folly and Rosie's not as sweet as she may seem my Suzie's rather nifty and she's not too far past sixty Suzie's the gal for me

Take me back to dreamland where the roses grew lazy days and sunsets and all our dreams come true take me back to dreamland where skies are always blue take me back to the place I love where there's no-one but you

about

This album came about because of a dream. I woke up one morning and had the entire melody, lyrics and arrangement for My Little Sweetheart. The next night I dreamed Take me back to dreamland and decided I needed to go back to my love of 1930’s music. Back to a time where lyrics were syrupy and sentimental but melodies were lyrical. A time between world wars where people had enjoyed the Roaring Twenties and had endured the Great Depression and came to realise that a simpler life was best. A time of Fats Waller, Bing Crosby, Louis Armstrong, The Great American Songbook, Gershwin, Berlin – the list is legendary. I dream of those times and wish that music would return to those times. These songs are stripped right back to their most basic form with mininmal arrangement and instrumentation letting the songs come out on their own terms. I know that in todays McMusic world my songs will have very limited appeal but once I had that first dream I felt compelled to do this album, if for no other reason than because I felt I needed to do it. I really hope you enjoy the songs. They were recorded during another stressful time for the world as it battles the Corona Virus, and, like during the Great Depression, I hope they can help brighten up people’s days with simplicity and love. Cheers.
